Paper Mache Giraffe

construction of a giant paper mache giraffe?
hello hello i need to construct a giant giraffe (don’t ask) an was thinking the best way to go would be chicken wie an paper mache if anyone has better ideas please share or any tips thanks heaps
Funny you should ask this. Last year I helped to make a giant paper mache cow for a play. Someone built a sturdy wooden frame that would act as a skeleton-like structure. After that, we taped on bunched-up newspaper to act as padding, building up the overall shape of the cow. Chicken wire was also used in small amounts, although it was difficult to get it the right shape. After the cow’s shape was well-defined, we began to apply paper mache, using the type made with glue, rather than flour. We also used something else, but I’m not sure what it’s called. It was sort of like paper pulp that became almost clay-like but light when water was added. Another material we used, which was by far the most effective, was a store-bought paper mache. It came in a small box, but produced a very large amount of very sticky glue-like paste, which was used to coat newspaper strips. After the paper mache was dry, it could be painted. This was the advantage of avoiding flour, as flour would simply dissolve. I hope this was helpful! Good luck!
